After a difficult few weeks, the Mighty Shane put in a quality performance to record their biggest win of the season against the Badgers.
In a match billed as a must-win, Shane started with great intensity and purpose, which saw them race into a commanding 3-0 inside the first 30 minutes. The moment of the match came after only 2 minutes with one of the goals of the season. Midfielder Mamadi picked the ball up 30 yards out and took one look before unleashing a curling, dipping effort over the keeper.
Shane's lead was soon doubled as a Badger defender put through his own net under pressure from striker Juan, following Mamadi's through ball.
The third goal came around the half hour mark as, following a cynical foul on Daniel, Sam's free kick from the left side of the box found captain Jamie to power home a trademark header past the keeper.
The lads were in great spirits at half time, and the focus turned to maintaining the lead whilst keeping a morale boosting clean sheet. The second half saw Shane control the tempo of the game, and when they were put under pressure, the defence stood strong with Jamie leading the back line. Right back Andy, in particular, put in his finest performance of the year to thwart the Badgers on numerous occasions.
Shane got their reward for a composed 2nd half as, 15 minutes from the end, Mamadi added his 2nd of the day with a great solo run and finish at the near post to complete the scoring.
Other positives to take from the game were goalkeeper Toby's commanding display, 'emergency' left back Leo playing brilliantly and new signing Ollie looking solid on his debut.
Shane will be looking to end the season with consecutive wins as they take on JFC at Fujen University on Sunday, December 4th.
