Jayke holds his nerve as Shane secure the points

Jayke converted a late penalty as Shane weathered a spirited Daan comeback to run out 3-2 winners.

Shane took a deserved lead early on when Daniel Swift planted a header into the net from a Zach Paruch corner.

Alex Patrascu doubled the advantage shortly afterwards as he latched onto a lofted pass from Jayke Langley to head past the oncoming keeper.

With just a few minutes remaining of the first half, Daan pulled a goal back after Shane failed to clear their lines.

Daan came out fighting in the second half, putting Shane on the back foot until a penalty was awarded against the run of play for a handball from the Daan defender. However, the keeper went the right way to ensure the score remained 2-1.

Daan capitalised soon after, drawing the scores level with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Shane reacted well to the setback and kept pushing forward in pursuit of a winner. As the game entered the last 10 minutes, Alex Wyatt danced into the box only to be brought down by a desperate lunge from the Daan defender. Jayke Langley held his nerve to dispatch the resulting penalty and ensure the points were in the bag.

MOTM goes to Schmittie who dominated the midfield, winning everything in the air and displaying great vision with his passing.

Shane look forward to their next match against B53 on 12th February!
