Shane and JFC play out stalemate in season opener

Shane were unable to overcome a well-organised JFC side as we drew 0-0 in a frustrating opening game.

Both teams had chances to take the lead in the opening stages but neither could apply the finishing touch. JFC missed multiple good opportunities from corners after some lacklustre marking from us.

We went into half time lucky to still be on level terms.

After regrouping and reshuffling the pack, Shane came out a much better team in the second half and increasingly took the game to JFC. Direct runs down the wing from Jose and Zack caused trouble for the opposition full-backs but that elusive finishing touch evaded us again.

We thought we had took the lead after a Lukas header was hooked out of the goal but the linesman was unmoved in our appeals.

As the game wore on, the JFC keeper earned his stripes through a string of fine saves from Zach, Dan and Sam.

The referee blew for full-time on a frustrating afternoon and the spoils were shared.

MOTM: Zach Maines didn't stop running all day and was effective in each position we asked of him, especially on the left wing. His effort levels were admirable and was unlucky not to find himself on the score sheet.

Danny also put in an excellent shift at CB and contained a nippy JFC attack with his smart positioning and strong communication.

Shane look to push on against Daan on May 21st!
