Shane fall short despite excellent Swandell goal

A late strike from Patrick Swandell wasn’t enough as Shane fell short against a strong B53 side.

Shane started well and controlled possession for the opening 15 minutes, but struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities. As Shane’s quick start started to fade, B53 gained a foothold in the game and pegged Shane back with their impressive attacking unit.

After defending resolutely, Shane were caught napping from a quick corner and B53 nodded home at the back post to break the deadlock. A second goal quickly followed after Shane struggled to clear their lines, and found themselves 2-0 down.

Patrick Swandell pulled one back with ten minutes to go with a brilliant volley in the penalty area, but ultimately it wasn’t enough and Shane fell to their second defeat of the season.

Despite the score, Shane went toe to toe with a serious title contender and might’ve come away with a result on a different day. They can be proud of the performance, but there is still more to give.

Patrick Swandell was a standout performer in this game keeping things ticking with his link-up play, topping off his performance with an excellent goal.

Enoc Hercules was a key player with a strong performance in the middle, Adam Lupinski made some vital saves and Leo Michot was a handful throughout with his direct running and hassling of defenders.

Shane will look to bounce back against Daan on May 8th!
